New Balance M990 Heritage Running

As a counter to bwak's impression of the M990v3, I wanted to share my thoughts on this shoe. (bwak mentions ankle surgeries which make make him or her more sensitive to aspects of the shoe that I can't appreciate.) I too have been wearing New Balance 99X shoes for years. They've always been my favorite shoe due to their comfortable fit. I wear a pair of them about 90% of the time. Some events call for something other than these gray beauties unfortunately.

When I went to order my latest pair of New Balance 993's, I saw this new improved version. I was skeptical of an upgrade to my shoe of choice, but completed the order anyway. Happily, the new model _did_ live up to the promise in my opinion. (Regarding the name, saying "M990v3" is sort of a mouthful, though.) Compared to the 993's, they feel a bit lighter, but just barely. Perhaps it's better stitching or slightly higher grade materials. I can't put my finger on it. One noticeable upgrade are the laces which are a bit narrower and thicker on this shoe than the 993. Basically, I can't actually pin point a defining difference of this shoe vs. the 993's. Whatever NB has done though, these shoes feel just right to me. This shoe is my new "shoe."

These running shoes are perfect for those who want sneakers that wide enough that lets them run without feeling tightness from the side. I'll probably buy another one in the future to keep a pair at work. I'm also happy that they are made in the US.

The shoe is slightly on the small side ref the size, but not to small and the shoe has excellent support and comfort.

I've used NB since my first set of 1220s. I'm not even sure how many years back that's been. I've had all of the shoes in the 12xx series up until the latest 1260. I just started running more and figured I would go to the local NB store in town. Boy am I glad I did. The salesperson worked with me for about thirty minutes trying on different styles to find the right pair.

I am a heavy runner, 6'4" 250#, but the 990s give me the comfort and support I need. Much more comfortable than the 12xx that I thought I needed b/c of my weight. i guess now I'll see how long they can last!

Very comfortable end soft. I had 993 and there is big difference. 990 is really better.
I made a right choice.

Have worn this style New Balance for years, and still consider it the best shoe. Also, still made in USA! It's a little more expensive, but worth every penny!

Though I am not a runner, I wanted to try a pair of these for casual walking and recreation because I have arthritis in my feet. I have worn NB shoes for years, usually the lower level models, and have been very pleased with the fit and ruggedness. These take it to the next level. I have wide feet and NB has a great range of widths compared to some other manufacturers. They are very light and well-cushioned. I really look forward to putting them on whenever I can. They are more expensive than what I normally get, but worth it. And - they are made in the USA!

This is my second pair of New Balance M990's. Obviously I like the quality of the shoe, but I have found it is the right choice for my running routine...moderate mileage for someone who needs high shock absorbency and stability.
