MBT's WORK FOR ME

Review MBT Kitabu Laceup Oxford 11 11 5

MBT Kitabu Laceup Oxford 11 11 5

My husband had an ankle fusion done some years ago after many years of suffering from cartilage loss. The surgery was a success. He had great mobility until about 2 years ago when he had to have a heel fusion done. He waited for almost a year for it to heal thinking it would get better but never did. I went from store to store in search of something to help him, but had no luck. I went on line and found MBT products and ordered him a pair of sneakers to see if they would help. It was like a miracle happened. My husband was now walking clear across a football field to watch our grandchild where before he was lucky if he could walk 10 steps before having to sit down in pain. I went back on line and ordered him a pair of every day shoes as well as workboots. MBT has been a lifesaver and given my husband so much mobility we can now do things together that we couldn't for way too long. Thank you!

My hubby is on his poor feet for 12 or so hours at a time (at the hospital). He has some kind of problem with his feet, and no other shoes work for him when he has to wear them for so long. His old MBT shoes finally wore out after about 3 or 4 years. Found these shoes on Amazon Marketplace for a great price. We bought 2 pairs; one for now and one for when the first pair wears out it a couple/few years.

This is my third pair of Kitabus. They are super comfortable, and have a more substantial, thicker leather than other MBT styles, which I like. The curved MBT sole is, of course, the main benefit. I've worn pretty much only MBTs for something like 6 years now - super comfortable. I don't have to wear my flat-foot orthotics when I wear MBTs!

These shoes are not for everybody. I have four pairs and sandles by MBT, but not everyone has the willingness to adjust their stride to compensate for the heavy, non-flexible, and curved sole. Some styles are curved differently than others, so they affect the way your foot lands differently. I have a bad back and as a teacher I must stand for long periods every day. The MBT's have made it possible for me to go throughout the day feeling great. The sole of this shoe causes you to remain off balance (not flat footed) diverting the strain from your back to your legs. I particularly like the Kitabu style which looks like a traditional oxford as opposed to some of the other weird designs. The leather finish is top quality.

If you don't already wear MBT shoes then it's a little hard to convince you to try them. I choose them to help my achilles and to stress my feet a little bit. Yes, stress, because that's what working out is.
The other reviewer is correct: these shoes will make you wobble. They are designed for you to have some instability, so you auto-correct and (supposedly) burn more calories. Maybe true, maybe not, but my legs get a little bit more work and that helps. Second, you can rock on these shoes back into your heels and get a really good stretch in the achilles. And, well, that really helps me.
Now, if you stand on your feet all day: sales or, say, wait staff, or if you need stability when you stand, then these shoes aren't for you. But for a desk jockey, they'll make your legs work a little harder when you walk to the water cooler or coffee machine and you can flex your feet/legs when sitting in front of a computer all day.
They are a great walking shoe but not good for other sports. They aren't really a flashy shoes, but functional and just above business casual.
From having friends try them, about 10%-15% of folks just can't get used to them. But I have a whole collection of tennis shoes that I couldn't get used to, so that's not an unusual result.
Bottom line: I like them and I hope that they work for you, also.

I have neuroma condition in both feet. Taking pressure off the forefoot is the name of the game. MBT's rock instead of "slam" the forefoot when walking. They're also unbelievably cushioned, which together allow me to walk all day without pain. I have lost count of how many pairs I've purchased over the years, but I wear nothing else.
