Buy Sorel Chesterman Sneaker NM1578 Light
Tried to find these in a men's size 12 on Amazon but they were out of stock, so I was forced to go direct to Sorel to get a pair. I'm pretty particular about footwear and these seemed to be just what I've been looking for, so I bought them.
Unlike another reviewer here, the pair I got were true to size, fit like a glove right out of the box. First few times I wore them outside though, it was as if I had strapped plywood to my feet, just no give to them at all. Thought I'd just have to wear them for a while before they'd break in. Then I remembered what shoe salesman used to do, back when I still bought shoes in shoes stores. They would take the shoes out of the box and bend them in half to take the stiffness out of them. Tried that, rolling them back and forth like a slinky, at which point they pretty much became an extension of my feet.
The soles are fantastic on snow, grip like you're walking on velcro. Don't know how long the soles will last, only because they're made from what seems to be a relatively soft rubber. Kind of like snow tires that you wear. Well constructed and, as advertised, very warm shoes.
Winter's not over here in Colorado, yet, so I'll add to my review if my observations change by April...or May...

What great shoes! I have been buying Sorel shoes for a long time. Their quality is far beyond most other companies for sure. They mostly (maybe exclusively) deal in winter boots, waterproof footwear, so given a chance to get a pair of winter, waterproof, tennis shoe style shoes, i jumped on it. And am i glad i did.
The shoes are much better in person than in the picture. The gray is darker and red color is deeper. The style is perfect for me and anyone who likes footwear that is a little different from the everyday norm.
I love these shoes. And NEVER EVER hesitate to buy Sorel, or from Amazon... as both companies are top notch!

Normally, I wear a size 13. This includes Nike Dunks, Nike running shoes, Zuriick shoes, and Crocs sandals. The one exception to this is a pair of Bontrager bicycling cleats, which are size 12 (and quite snug).
The Sorel Chesterman sneaker in size 13 is ENORMOUS. I laced them up tightly and could still fit eight fingers in the heel. I exchanged them for size 12, which are "roomy," but they fit comfortably with wool socks.
I'll add details on the Chesterman's performance in snow come spring--just thought I'd help inform you on what size to buy.
